What is Patreon?

Patreon is an outlet for connecting consumers (patrons) directly to content creators. It works to cut out the middle man of publishers and vendors in order to get content directly to those who fan of the artist’s work. It works as a subscription, where you would commit to giving a certain amount of money each month to me (Patreon gets their cut), and in exchange, I get support for my craft and get special privileges and rewards out exclusively to my patrons.

Why Patreon?

First of all, pledging on Patreon is a way to communicate your support and interest with your dollar. It’s a way to show that you like what I do, and you want to support me and help me in my endeavors to make good art and feed my family. Secondly, it cuts out the middle man between you and I. Through a traditional publisher, I would be getting 10% royalties. In e-books, I get 70% royalties. There is still a cut taken away, often to support some sketchy or questionable organizations. Patreon allows you to get directly to me, and it takes away any need for me to serve or please some third party. I only need to worry about making content that makes me happy and my patrons happy. Finally, it gets you rewards. From early access, cheaper commissions, voting on my upcoming content, or special Patreon only content, if you love what I do, being my patron gets you access to more of it.
